Have you ever played a prank on yourself? I am sure you are wondering when you did so! Right? Let me remind of when you were wearing your lenses and was looking for it! Or when you had your car key in your bag and you were searching for it everywhere else…! or when you got in front of your door and remembered that you left your key somewhere else!
How did you handle yourself?
Maybe you only smiled and forgave yourself or shouted in disbelief or got annoyed with yourself! No matter how you felt, the harm was already done! LIFE!!! Sometimes you wonder why? but God in His own wisdom, created memory!
It is amusing to note that there is a day noted for pranks! That on this day, people could have their way in playing pranks on you! May we never fall into anyone’s pranks.
As the Bible says, may we be wise and discern people in whatever we do.
According to Brandon Speckor’s article in the Reader’s Digest titled “The Mystery Behind How April Fools’ Day Got Started” He noted that in 1561, a Flemish poet wrote a poem titled “Refrain on errand-day – the first of April.”
The poem was about a nobleman who sends his servant back and forth on ludicrous errands in preparation for a wedding feast. The poem’s title roughly translates to the first mention of April Fools’ Day.
Speckor also elaborated that in Britain, April fool’s day is mentioned as far back in 1686, when biographer John Aubrey described April first as a “Fooles holy day.” He posits the habit of sending springtime rubes on a “fool’s errand” was rampant in Europe by the late 1600s. He purported April Fools’ Day in 1698, people were tricked to go the Tower of London and participate in ceremony that never existed. The ceremony was called “washing of the lions” according to Specktor, a local newspaper debunked the hoax and publicly mocked the people who fell for it.
I read another article in social media titled “hah! a florida court sets official atheist Holy day.” In this article, a judge who really knows scripture judged a case to everyone’s marvel.
According to the story which took place in Florida, an atheist hired an attorney to bring a discrimination case against Christians and Jews and observances of their holy days. They argued that it was unfair that atheists had no such recognized days.
After listening to the passionate presentation by the lawyer, the judge banged his gavel declaring, “Case dismissed!”
The lawyer objected and said:
“Your honor, how can you possibly dismiss this case? The Christians have Christmas, Easter and others. The Jews have Passover, Yom Kippur and Hanukkah, yet my client and all other atheists have no such holidays…”
The judge leaned forward in his chair saying, “But you do. Your client, counselor, is woefully ignorant.”
The lawyer said, “Your Honor, we are unaware of any special observance or holiday for atheists.”
The judge said,
“The calendar says April 1st is April Fool’s Day. Psalm 14:1 states, ‘The fool says in his heart, there is no God.’ Thus, it is the opinion of this court, that, if your client says there is no God, then he is a fool. Therefore, April 1st is his day. Court is adjourned…”
I know you have heard that Jesus Christ came to die as a propitiation for our sins. And also heard “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life” John 3:16.
These words are true and not just a story or an April fools prant!
It is a reality and so I recommend a savior who will deliver you from the power of sin and death! If you have not accepted Jesus as your Lord and savior, I implore you to do so right now!
